LAHORE  - A twelve-year-old chained boy fled a seminary in the Factory area of provincial capital Monday.

Police have detained his father and teacher after registering a case. The resident of Shahdara, identified as Umair, was handed over to the Punjab Child Protection Bureau.

Police believe that the management of seminary Faizanul Quran had chained the boy.

On Monday afternoon, he managed escape by jumping from the compound wall of the madrassa. With the help of some residents, the boy landed at the police station and informed the cops about the matter.

Later, father of the boy also appeared in the police station and told the investigators that he had earlier made several attempts to run away from the madrassa, as he was not a ‘quick learner’. According to him, the school administration chained the boy on his request.

The boy’s legs were tied with a chain as he reached the police station. Further investigation was underway.
