LAHORE - With directions to Punjab Inspector General of Police to release seniority list of Deputy Superintendents of Police within two weeks of time, Supreme Court Lahore Registry disposed off the petition here on Monday.

A two-judge bench of the SC passed this order on a petition moved by a DSP Safdar Kazmi seeking contempt proceedings against the IGP for not releasing the seniority list despite a court order.

During the course of arguments, a law officer appeared in the court and said that a list of 678 DSPs had been prepared and would be released soon.

He maintained that the order of the court would be complied with in letter and spirit. He asked the court to dismiss the petition.

After hearing the arguments, the court disposed of the petition and directed Inspector General of Punjab police to issue seniority list of deputy superintendents within the time of two weeks. The court disposed off the petition.
