ISLAMABAD - Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said on Thursday that his party was in favour of the restoration of students’ unions in educational institutions.

“When students come out resisting dictators, they force dictators to retreat. Students’ unions are important so that students with their studies also become aware of the political environment,” Bilawal said this while addressing office-bearers of Peoples Student Federation at Zardari House in Islamabad.

He said that the PSF has a glowing history and students suffered immensely during Gen Zia-ul-Haq’s rule. He said that the PPP was striving for democratic culture and economic justice in the country. “Students are my strength and together we will change the society,” he said.

Bilawal said that the PPP leadership and workers have rendered sacrifices for the country. “Students are the future leaders in their fields and some of them may join politics and lead the people.” He asked the students to work for promoting peace and democratic culture.

Meanwhile, president PTI Kamalia called on Bilawal at Zardari House and announced to join the PPP.
