LAHORE - Ten Local Government employees, including four officers, have been dismissed on account of corruption in the salary accounts. Further, the annual increment of 2 other officers has been forfeited. Also, the pension of a retired Accounts Officer has been forfeithed. The Secretary Local Government of the Punjab took these actions on Thursday after a detailed inquiry into the embezzlement of government employees salaries, worth Rs140 millio, at Rahim Yar Khan Town Municipal Administration. Secretary Local Government, in the light of the recommendations of I&M DG, dismissed Tariq Mahmood (BPS-18), currently posted as TO Finance (BPS-17) at Bahawalpur Sadar TMA, Chief Officer Abdul Ghaffar, Sanitary Inspectors Abdul Qadir, Akbar Ali, Babar Saddique and Zulfiqar Ali, Cashier Rafique Tahir, Accounts clerks Bashir Ahmad and Muhammad Ilyas, and Muhammad Akhtar, currently posted as TO Finance (BPS-17), in Arifwala TMA. Secretary Local Government had ordered recovery of worth millions of rupees from the dismissed officials.
