LAHORE Capital City Police Officer Ahmad Raza Tahir has ordered the police to ensure foolproof security and usage of walkthrough gates at Masajids and Imambargahs during the Juma prayers today, the last Friday before the start of holy month of Muharram. The CCPO also directed the SPs to personally review duty of police personnel and ensure vigorous armed patrol in their respective areas. He also directed them that during the holy month, a code of ethics ought to be strictly implemented. According to the code of ethics, there is a strict ban on all provocative and hate-mongering speeches from the pulpit. The CCPO laid special emphasis on comprehensive and effective checking of the heavy transport entering the City. CCPO Tahir said there should be special checking and preventive measures taken for transport entering at the time at 3:00 am to 6:00 am, as these hours were commonly considered as easy for subversive elements to move around and make a penetration into the city, due to relatively light presence of force at the time. The CCPO directed Security Branch to increase usage of metal detectors on the occasion of Juma congregations in the city and ensuring maintenance of peace at mosques with the close co-operation of its organisers. He directed police that parking of vehicles should be away from important buildings.
