LAHORE - The team at Manager Today magazine has announced the successful conclusion of its forum 'A tribute to Steve Jobs. The forum was held on 23rd November at the Royal Palm Golf and Country Club with many members of the media, representatives of major corporations and banks, corporate executives and enterprise developers in attendance, says a press release. The keynote speakers for the event included dynamic members of the private and corporate sector from across the spectrum of industries. Among them were such luminaries as Dr. Ehsan Malik, Director BA (PU), Naeem Zamindar, CEO Wateen Telecom, Kamran Rizvi, Director Navitus and lbrahim Qureshi, Director Raffles. The Consul General of the US in Lahore, Ms. Nina Maria Fite also attended as chief guest After a brief introduction to the event and to the life of Steve Jobs the event kicked off with words from Kamran Rizvi. Rizvi spoke about the ways in which Pakistan, despite the troubles in the country, presents a great many opportunities for those willing to think outside the box and take risks. He encouraged people to look at the world in a different way, in what he called looking at an old world through new eyes. lbrahim Qureshi spoke first about Steve Jobs and his life and then pointed out that Steve Jobs was a man who spent a great deal of time doing small things, involved in details and with a will to learn that made him different to other CEOs and managers. Qureshi then told the audience about his own experience bringing Apple to Pakistan and how Raffles has grown from one store to becoming the sole distributor for Apple products around Pakistan. He said that despite his own doubts about the success of such a venture when he began, the ability to recognise an opportunity and take a risk was essential to success.
