MULTAN - Nine passengers were killed while 12 sustained serious multiple injuries in a collision between a wagon and a speeding passenger bus near Ghazi Wala on Shujabad Road here on Thursday. According to Multan Muzaffarabad Police SHO Rana Farooq, the wagon Karachi-0094 was on its way to Multan from Jalalpur Pirwala. When it reached near Ghazi Wala area after crossing Shujabad, suddenly it collided with a city transport bus, MNZ-5265, that was on its way to Shujabad from Multan. As a result of the collision nine passengers including three kids, a woman and the driver died on the spot. While 12 others sustained serious injuries and were admitted in Nishtar Hospital Multan. Two of the injured are stated to be in critical condition. The collision was so powerful that it made the wagon kept rolling down the roadside for sometime and threw its roof many metres away. Two of the nine killed were identified as Mohammad Usman r/o tehsil Chobara, district Layyah and Mohammad Akhtar, the owner of the wagon. The police said that the bodies were shifted to Nishtar hospital and identity of rest of the deceased was being ascertained. Those injured included Sagheer (8), Arshad (6), Khursheed Bibi, Iqbal, Shahzad, Rubina Bibi, Suhail, Sarfraz and others. The SHO quoted an eye-witness as saying that the wagon driver was driving the vehicle at a fast speed. He said that police were probing the incident. Three charged with selling substandard oil: The Delhi Gate Police have registered separate cases against three oil-dealers for selling substandard oil here the other day. According to police sources, the Delhi Gate Police conducted raids at Delhi Gate area and arrested three oil-dealers identified as Ali Arshad, Shahzad and Shan Mustafa on a charge of illegally selling substandard oil. The police have also recovered substandard oil from their possession. The Delhi Gate Police have registered separate cases against the culprits.
