LAHORE - Punjabi is the mother tongue of 60 million Pakistanis and it is the need of the hour to patronize it. According to a report by UNESCO 50pc languages, which are spoken at present, will be eliminated in next 50 years due to globalisation. This was stated by Dr Sabiha Mansoor, VC Lahore College for Women University in his speech as she inaugurated Inter-collegiate competition of Soofiana kalam and folk singing in LCWU. Function was attended by World Punjabi Congress Canada Chairman Dr. Darshan Singh, Dr Ajab Singh, Dr Kanwar Jeet Kor, faculty members and large number of students. Teams from 10 college and universities participated in the event. The competition was won by Samia Khan of Government College University Lahore.
