LAHORE-The seventh edition of the inter school and college games will be held from November 1 to 5 at different venues.

Addressing the press conference here on Monday, Punjab Olympic Association (PbOA) secretary Idris Haider Khawaja, along with Director General Sports Punjab Zulfiqar Ahmad Ghumman, Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) secretary M Khalid Mhamood and organising secretary Tania Malik, said altogether 235 school and colleges would field their teams in the games which were incepted in 2008 to identify new talent at grass-root level. "By holding these games, we provide a platform to the youth to showcase its talent in a positive way and to become refined sportsmen in due course of time", he said.

He said cash awards would be given to the notable position holders of various events as a token of encouragement. “Provincial Minister for Sports Asif Saeed will inaugurate the games while Provincial Secretary Sports Nayyar Iqbal will be the chief guest at the closing ceremony.”

SBP DG said that inter school and college games would be organised throughout the province in near future to tape new talent and to engage the youth in healthy activities. "The Punjab government is taking keen interest in the development of sports and for the welfare of the sportsmen and we will be organizing sports events on regular basis in every part of the province,” he asserted.

He said the SBP would join hands with the national sports federations and the provincial associations for achieving a collective cause of development of the games. POA secretary Khalid Mahmood said the games would serve as an effective medium to produce promising sportsmen. Organising secretary Tania Malik said efforts were being made to hold the games in a trend setting way and a number of committees have been setup for the smooth conduct of various events of the games.
