SHEKHUPURA/BUREWALA/FAISALABAD - A number of robberies were committed here with killing of two shopkeepers and injuring of many others by the outlaws on resistance here on Monday.

Three highway robbers on resistance shot dead the shopkeeper on Jandiala Road. Umair was present in his shop, meanwhile the bandits barged into it and started snatching cash. On resistance by the shopkeeper, the outlaws opened fire killing him instantly.

An expatriate was deprived of foreign currency and other valuables worth about Rs0.7 million on Lahore Road near Qila Sattar Shah early hours on Monday. Ashfaq came from abroad and accompanied with his two relatives was going to his native town Manawala by a car. Meanwhile, four armed men intercepted the expatriate and his colleagues and deprived them of foreign currency and other valuables. In Faisalabad, robbers killed a fruit-seller on resistance at ABC Road. Iftikhar Hussain, 50, a resident of Jhang, was living in house of relatives in Faisalabad and used to sell fruit at ABC Road. Unknown gunmen started firing at him for showing resistance in giving money.

In a separate incident, two other gunmen riding a bike snatched a motorbike in Chak Kamal, a suburb area of the city. They also took him with his mobile and cash Rs9,000. Likewise, gunmen snatched Rs450,000 and managed to escape the scene.

In Burewala, A trader was injured by the firing of robbers at PI-Link Canal Road. Tahir Javed, the local trader, was going towards city area in the morning when armed robbers intercepted him and snatched cash and valuables from him. When he offered resistance, they injured him by firing and fled away. The injured was shifted to THQ Hospital Burewala.

Meanwhile, the Model Town police arrested a robber who shot dead a fertiliser dealer for offering resistance during a robbery at grain market a few weeks earlier, said District Police Officer Umar Saeed Malik in a press conference here on Monday.

Muhammad Saleem, a resident of Chak 505/EB was shot dead by a robber for offering resistance in daylight robbery. Police had got CCTV footage of the incident and announced 50 rupees cash reward for the informer. DPO Umar Saeed Malik said that police after extensive efforts and with the help of modern technology arrested accused Allah Ditta of Chak 519/EB. He said that it was great challenge for the police.
