LOS ANGELES  - Johnny Depp loves how Captain Jack Sparrow allows him to bring out his subversive side. The 51-year-old actor is known for his variety of roles on the silver screen, especially those for the younger generation. He has played everything from the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland to Willy Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, savouring every moment of appealing to kids.

‘I think it’s one of my gifts as a human being and as an actor,’ he smiled to America’s OK! magazine. ‘I find it easy to enter the world of children and their way of thinking. I trust kids far more than I do adults; their perspective on the world is pure.’ This outlook could be down to being a father himself. The star has daughter Lily-Rose and son Jack with ex-girlfriend Vanessa Paradis, who he split from in 2012 before striking up a relationship with Amber Heard.

Next up, Johnny will be reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the fifth instalment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. He can’t wait to get back into character, especially as it has positive impact on his personality.  ‘I have so much fun getting back into his head each time.

He’s got a kind of crooked view of the world, a childlike sense of amazement, and he enjoys being on this crazy ride he can’t get off,’ Johnny gushed.

‘He really allows my subversive side to surface. I have to be careful not to slip into Captain Jack mode when I’m in a silly mood.’ The handsome actor continued to note he enjoys ‘toying’ with his alter egos to make them stand out from the crowd and, if he’s lucky, add a touch of magic. ‘I’m just glad I’ve worked with people who have been willing to listen and accept most of my harebrained ideas,’ he grinned.
