KARACHI - A total of 1,500 students from 15 universities of the metropolitan have enrolled themselves in 3 days for the workshops that will be held at old KMC building under the banner of Hamara Karachi Festival. The workshop will continue for 6 days, starting from February 26 (today). The whole event is organised by CDGK, Muhammad Shahid, Director City Institute of Image Management (CIIM) told The Nation here on Wednesday. "This is a festival which will continue for 6 days. This year we will conduct 6 workshops each day. "The leader in me and my vision" is the title for the workshops. During these workshops, we will provide assistance to the participants regarding communication skills, team building and leadership and stress management," he added. Giving details about the event, he said that they had invited the guests from the media, management institute and roll models from youth. At the first day of this event, Peerzada Qasim, Vice Chancellor of University of Karachi, will be the chief guest. Saher Lodhi will represent the media personality and Fasial Edhi as the roll model for the youth. On the second day, Pir Mazharul Haq, provincial minister for education, will be the chief guest. Shazia Marri, provincial information minister will be the chief guest on the third day of the event along with Dr Shaista Wahidi, media personality and Dr Azra, director SZABIST. Faisal Sabzwari, provincial minister, Faisal Qureshi and Fahim Siddiqui will present at the event on fourth day. Nadia Gabol, provincial minister, and Sania Saeed, famous actress, will be the guests on the fifth day. A foreign councillor general will be the chief guest on the last day of the workshop. Giving information about the financial assistance, he said that they were seeking financial support from the Ministry of Youth Affairs. "In the meantime, Mobilink, Intel, ICIL and the city government is providing us with the financial concerns. The British Council and ICIL are providing technical assistance to the training programme." "The institute is working from last 2 years. We have conducted a total of 54 workshops during this time. Basically, the purpose for these workshops was to provide knowledge and training about time management, motivation and stress management to the participants," said Shahid. He further explained that during these workshops, the Union Consul (UC) Nazims, UC councillors and District Officers (DO) have attended different training programmes to improve knowledge about their work. "We have also conducted workshops on different issues that have been faced by the general public. This is the first training institute that has been established by the City government at district level. National Reconstruction Bureau (NRB) has recognised the efforts of the training institute," he added.
