WASHINGTON - The United States on Wednesday voiced concern over the imposition of Governor's Rule in Punjab after Pakistan's Supreme Court barred Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif from elected office. "I have no specific comments, but we're concerned with violence wherever it happens around the world," State Department spokesman Robert Wood said while answering a question about the court's verdict, which also disqualified PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif, as also reports of some incidents of violence in Punjab. But, he said, "This is an issue for Pakistan to deal with."
