Finally, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU) Larkana has stubbornly started their evening MBBS classes turning a deaf ear to the repeated warnings given by Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) of violating the laws. I personally have two serious concerns. First, what will be the response of PMDC? If they take strict action, students' careers will be jeopardise and hang in uncertainty. If they keep mum, many greedy people will step forward to earn easy bucks.

Second, SMBBMU is already short of faculty for morning classes, especially in the basic departments. Further, serious problems have emerged within the administration. In the last six to eight months, innumerate strikes have been made, one is currently underway to remove the politically appointed Vice Chancellor, who only has a diploma in ophthalmology and lacks the qualification for such a post. Apart from these, we have seen students tearing the exam papers and boycotting the exams, college bus was burnt and many ridiculous unmerited appointments have been made, clearly depicting mishandling of the whole institution. What does the administration of SMBBMU really want?
