ISLAMABAD Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan has predicted a soft revolution through ballot while accusing the PML-N-led Punjab government of massively rigging the PP-160 by-poll. While addressing a press conference on Friday at his partys Central Secretariat here, he informed the media that his party had requested the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to withhold the official results of the by-election until a thorough probe into the rigging complaints put forth by PTI is done. He also warned to move court if his reservations on the issue were not entertained by the ECP. PTI had informed the ECP about the presence of 14,000 bogus votes in the voters list manipulated by PML-N two days prior to the by-election, he added. While giving details of these fake votes, Khan said that out of these votes, 7,000 bogus votes were registered without mentioning any numbers of National Identity Cards whilst the other 7,000 were listed in the different voters lists for different polling stations with the same names and data of voters. He also grilled the role of Punjab Police as well as local administration for helping the PML-N-led Punjab Government in helping its candidate to win the by-election, saying that SHOs and Patwaris were appointed as polling agents in plain clothes. He accused the Punjab Police of using pressure tactics to get votes in favour of the PML-N candidate, adding that the police officials dressed in uniform were noticed forcefully stamping the ballot papers. He called for initiation of criminal proceedings against the public servants involved in poll rigging. Imran Khan said that despite massive engineering in the elections, the margin of victory of the PML-N candidate against his partys candidate was not convincing and hence it proved the fact that rulers in the Punjab had lost the confidence of the people. He also stated if fair elections were held in the country, they would be routed. The Chairman PTI also informed that his party did not endorse the results of any by-elections held in future under the administrative control of the incumbent Punjab Government and that he would take all the parties on board with regard to this issue. He also talked about the deployment of Rangers instead of police in the by-polls scheduled to be held in future. Khan also referred to the preliminary report of Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) about PP-160 by-election, saying that at Polling Station No. 78 of Shadi Wala, police officers in uniform were noted stamping the ballot papers and that the District Coordination Officer (DCO) Lahore influenced the Returning Officers. Moreover, the ratio of polling at some polling stations was shown as hundred percent. While responding to a question, he said that PML-N leader used to talk about revolution but he awarded part ticket in the by-polls of 160 to a land grabber replacing a candidate holding a fake degree. He also suggested holding elections on the basis of the data of NADRA, adding that if ECP succeeded in holding free and fair elections, no one could stop the way of revolution in the country through ballot. He also informed that the ECP was conducting the election on the basis of voter lists revamped in 1997 depriving the young workers of his party from casting votes.
