KARACHI - Rejecting the allegations of British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) report on MQM’s Indian funding, Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain has said that enemies of MQM want to eliminate the movement but the conspiracies would not be allowed to materialise.

He was addressing the party workers and supporters at Lal Qila ground, Azizabad here on Thursday.

He said attempts to undermine MQM were underway and different elements and poisonous media campaign was underway against the party for disenchanting the people. During the campaign, all sort of allegations were leveled against the MQM but such attempts would go in vain, he added. “Our forefathers gave sacrifice for the establishment of the country.”

Calling MQM workers, Altaf said this was a testing time and the only way left now would be to remove him from the picture. He asked the party workers to continue the party work with tolerance and patience even if anything happens to him. He urged Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif to halt the illegal practice of the Rangers against the party. About 200 party workers and supporters had gone missing while at least 41 were killed in extra-judicial killing, he alleged. He further said the media had flamed the matter after the BBC report.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, during the National Assembly session had said to MQM’s Rasheed Godial that he will come under the influence of heavy loadshedding soon. The defence minister had prior knowledge of BBC’s report, he alleged. He said the DG Rangers told MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar to carry on the party political activities.

Altaf said those elements which were projecting the case of money laundering had forgotten to question Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar who had admitted money laundering in Hudaibia Mills. He asked Federal Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar to call on British High Commission once again and take action against Ishaq Dar over his statement about admitting the money laundering. Terming Chaudhry Nisar a liar, Altaf said the people who were talking to lodge a case under Article 6 should first review the report telecasted on a private TV channel.

Calling DG Rangers, he said, “You told us to carry on the party political activities and today you tried your best to create panic by surrounding the MQM headquarters.”

Altaf said the attempt to end the MQM was eradication of the country. “If we have any force to fight then we will fight to save Pakistan and will free the country from the rule of your so-called uniform and weapons,” he claimed.

The paramilitary force seems quite brave against the MQM chief but are you ready to fight in Kashmir where the daughter of nation are calling you for help. He further urged the rulers to show some seriousness over the prevailing situation of the country.
