GILGIT - Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Haji Fida Mohammad Nashad has been elected un-opposed as Speaker and Jafarullah as Deputy Speaker of the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly (GBLA) on Thursday. Earlier, Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) member Raja Jahanzaib withdrew his nomination papers from the race.

Outgoing Speaker Wazeer Baig administered the oath to newly-elected Speaker Feda Muhammad Nashad and newly-elected Deputy Speaker Jafarullah. PML-N G-B Chief Hafeezur Rahman thanked the opposition parties for electing speaker and deputy speaker unopposed.

He said, "For the first time, the elected representatives of seven political parties in Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly gave a good message to the world by electing speaker and deputy speaker unopposed." Addressing the lawmakers, newly-elected Speaker Feda Muhammad Nashad said that he hoped the new lawmakers would meet the people's expectations and would honour their promises they made with the masses during electioneering.

PM to attend oath-taking ceremony of G-B CM today

GILGIT - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will attend the oath-taking ceremony of newly-nominated Chief Minister G-B Hafeezur Rahman to be held today (Friday). The ceremony will be held at the Chinar Baag Gilgit.

Governor Gilgit-Baltistan Barjees will administer oath to newly-nominated Chief Minister G-B Hafeezur Rahman.
