Paolo Gurrero scored a hat-trick to help his team power past Bolivia 3-1 and send them to the semi finals of the Copa America where Peru will lock horns against hosts, Chile, for a right to play in the Final.

Paolo scored two goals in the first few minutes of the first half to help Peru set its sights on the semi finals and bagged his third after the break courtesy of a vital mistake committed by Bolivia’s Danny Bejarano. Peru enjoyed most of the possession in the opening exchanges, creating chances and troubling the Bolivian keeper, Romel Quinonez, right from the start. Paolo Gurrero missed a chance early in the 10th minute as he cut in the penalty box from the left, shooting just over the bar, followed by Claudio Pizarro, who made the same mistake.

Peru, however, grabbed the opener in the 20th minute and three minutes later, got their second of the night with Paolo Gurrero scoring from inside the six yard box.

Gurrero scored his third of the night when he capitalized on Bejarano’s error, slotting home past the keeper, sixteen minutes from time. Bolivia, however, managed to score a consolation in the 84th minute via a Martins Moreno penalty.

The semi-final between Chile and Peru will take place on Tuesday in Santiago De Chile.
