London - The 90-second trailer, featuring a glimpse of Emma Watson, debuted on Monday. The first trailer for Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast has broken the record for the most viewed teaser in history, in its first 24 hours of release.  The record was previously held by Star Wars: The Force Awakens when its first teaser hit in November 2014.

The Beauty and the Beast trailer officially debuted on Monday’s edition of ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’ before being released online. Within 24 hours it had amassed a record-breaking 91.8 million views, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

When the first teaser for Star Wars: The Force Awakens debuted online in 2014 it garnered 88 million views in its first 24 hours, making it then the most watched teaser. Captain America: Civil War had 61 million views, while the second Force Awakens trailer clocked 55 million views and Avengers: Age of Ultron had 34 million views in its first 24 hours, Disney reports.

The Beauty and the Beast trailer gave little away to fans, only briefly showing Emma Watson as Belle. Directed by Bill Condon, the film features an ensemble cast, including Dan Stevens as the Beast, alongside, Kevin Kline, Luke Evans, Josh Gad, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Ian McKellen and Emma Thompson. Beauty and the Beast hits theatres on March 17, 2017.
