ISLAMABAD  -Essco Cricket Club routed Islamabad Greeners Cricket Club by 104 runs in the inaugural match of the ICA-North Zone/Preston University T20 Championship match played here at National Cricket Ground on Wednesday.

Bating first, Essco posted 217-5 on the board. Waqar Ahmed played a brilliant unbeaten knock of 36-ball 91 hitting 8 fours and 6 sixes while M Naqash contributed 73 with the help of 7 fours and 5 sixes. Islamabad Greeners were bundled out for 113 runs in 16.3 overs. None of their batsmen could play a big innings as Shahzad Khan was top scorer with 29 and Azam Inam made unbeaten 26. Waqas Ahmed clinched three wickets for 14.

In the second match, Islamabad Gymkhana beat National Cricket Club by 7 wickets. Batting first, National Club were all out for paltry 95 in 19.2 overs. Only Arslan (31) could reach double figures. Sohaib Nasir grabbed 3-12. In reply, Islamabad Gymkhana chased down the target in 11 overs for the loss of 3 wickets. Atif Rana slammed 47 runs.

In the third match played at the same venue, Shaheen Club beat Tigers Club by 32 runs. Shaheen scored 166-4 with Sajjad Ahmed thwarting 80 while Yasir Mehmood contributing 45. M Talha took 2-18. In reply, Tigers Club’s were restricted to 135-9 in 20 overs with Sajjad bowling superbly and picking up 4-9.

In the fourth match of the day at Marghazar Cricket Ground, Islamabad hawks beat Evans by 18 runs. Batting first, Islamabad Hawks scored 137 runs in 18 overs and in reply, Evans Club were restricted to 119 runs in the allotted overs. Hamayun grabbed 4-24.
