Rawalpindi - A man was murdered by unknown persons here yesterday, informed police.

According to details, two unknown assailants riding on a motorcycle opened indiscriminate firing at a man namely Sajid Shah, 32, and killed him on the spot, said police. The killers managed to escape from the crime scene.

The incident took place at Shahid Town within the limits of Police Station Sadiqabad. The dead body was shifted to hospital for autopsy. A case was registered against unknown killers.

Separately, the death of an old lady during treatment at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Gujar Khan sparked protest and the relatives of the deceased tortured doctors and smashed windowpanes.

The irate protestors also chanted slogans against Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shehbaz Sharif and secretary health.

The doctors approached police for legal action against the protestors; reliable sources informed The Nation yesterday.

According to sources, a man Rabnawaz brought his ailing wife suffering from liver problem to hospital from Changa Maira village.

However, the lady died during treatment.

They added that the relatives of the deceased started protesting and torturing the doctors. Many doctors saved their lives by running out of the hospital, they said.

Medical Superintendent (MS) THQ Dr Pervaiz said that all the paramedical staff and doctors were on duty while they provided adequate treatment to the ailing lady.
