Lahore (Staff Reporter) Punjab Economic Research Institute (PERI) of Planning & Development Department, in collaboration with the Government of Italy and Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC), launched a study report here on Wednesday titled, ‘Market Analysis for Value Chain and Olive Oil Consumption in Pakistan’.

Member Punjab Planning and Development Board Agha Waqar Javed, while addressing the ceremony, said that agriculture was one of those sectors to which the Punjab government attached priority.

“The government is fulfilling its commitments made to the farmers. Especially, it is protecting the interests of farmers. The Olive sector of Punjab, in particular, has a great potential,” he said, and added, “The Punjab government is very much enthusiastic about developing the olive sector.”

He told the audience that Punjab government had recently launched an Olive Development Project in Pothohar region of Punjab. “In this connection, the government is seeking the support of private and corporate sector so that olive oil extraction on economic basis could be promoted,” he added.
