MULTAN-Former prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has warned that the PPP will adopt an aggressive stance against anti-public policies and unveil corruption as well as misuse of national exchequer in the development projects.

Addressing a meeting of Coordination Committee for South Punjab, he added that the time was ripe to give tough time to the PML-N rulers. He said the federal and Punjab governments had failed to fulfill even a single promise they made with the people. As a result, the said, unemployment and poverty increased in the country.

He maintained that the nation needed electricity and gas instead of projects like metro bus or orange train. He said that the power shortfall had further increased in the country but the rulers were focused on securing kickbacks in road projects. He said that the PPPP would not leave the people of Pakistan alone and hold the rulers accountable for the poor management and corruption.

The participants of the meeting agreed to appoint Abdul Qadir Shaheen as secretary of South Punjab Coordination Committee and Khawaja Rizwan Alam spokesperson. It was decided during the meeting that the Coordination Committee would organise workers conventions at district level across the South Punjab region and bring all annoyed leaders and workers back. It was also decided that Mr Gilani would arrange a function in honour of former office-bearers of the party in Multan on June 1 while the first workers convention would be held in Rahim Yar Khan on June 2.

The meeting was chaired by Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani while former governor Makhdoom Ahmad Mahmood, Shaukat Basra, Mahmood Hayat Tochi Khan, Andul Qadir Shaheen and Khawaja Rizwan Alam were in attendance.

RAMAZAN PLAN: Over 250 Muhammadi Dastarkhawans will be set up in Multan district to offer quality food to the poor and deserving citizens at Sehr and Iftar during Ramazan in Multan district, said a top official on Wednesday.

Coordinator of Muhammadi Dastarkhawan Punjab Haji Muhammad Nawaz told the journalists that all towns and industries department had been given a task to select appropriate spots for setting up the Dastarkhawans. He said that high quality food would be supplied for the Dastarkhawans and the poor would be facilitated to observe fasts.

The Dastarkhawans were being set up to share the blessings of the holy month with the citizens, DCO Nadir Chatha said. He declared that all resources would be utilised for the purpose and the Dastarkhawans would be set up with the cooperation of philanthropists.

He further revealed that 13 Ramazan bazaars would also be set up in the district to offer edibles and daily use items at cheaper rates to the citizens. He added that shelter, fans and drinking water would be offered at these bazaars. He said that the motive behind setting up these bazaars was to keep the prices of edibles under control and offer relief to the citizens during the holy month. He declared that a big crackdown was being launched on the hoarders and profiteers.
