ISLAMABAD - Although no fake degree case of the federal government employees has been reported in the degree verification process initiated on the directives of Prime Minister so far, yet a circular has been issued to 86 officers of National Assembly (NA) to send copies of their academic certificates. They have been warned that if they failed to comply with this, strict action might be taken against them. Over 20 officers even after issuance of reminder have not submitted their certificates to the department concerned, sources in the Cabinet Division told TheNation. According to available circular, 86 officers have not sent copies of their education certificates so far. T hey are again requested to send copies of their education certificates for further necessary action by August 20, 2011 positively. The 86 officers whose names are included in the circular are Shahid Hussain Jilani, Joint Secretary, Amir Khan Joint Secretary Mushtaq, Afzaal Ahmed Azad Deputy Secretary, Fayyaz hussain Shah, Tariq Pervez Deputy Secretary, Nasim Khalid Director and others. According to the diary record, sources said, over 60 per cent among these 86 officers have submitted certificates but the remaining would yet to send degrees. It may be mentioned here that the verification process was started by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani reportedly in an announcement. He had directed the Establishment Division that educational certificates of the employees working in all federal government institutions may be verified by the respective of institutions. PM reportedly had also set a two-month deadline from February 5 for the verification of educational degrees. According to the instruction, the federal government employees (17 to above) were asked to submit their original certificates for verification. The revised date for degree verification of Islamabads babus and other gazetted employees was (August 20). Following the Prime Ministers official announcement, the verification of degrees of approximately 18,869 federal government officers (BS-17 and above) and over 64,000 officers of autonomous bodies, semi-autonomous bodies, corporation etc is being carried out.
