ISLAMABAD -A sudden fire erupted inside the country's top hotel, Marriott, on Thursday, slightly damaging its two floors. This was the second incident when the hotel was on fire; the first being September last. The fire led to wide speculations in the federal capital, after flames rose above the rooftop of the hotel. As many as 12 employees of five star Hotel went unconscious after the fire. However, no loss of life was reported. "Fire started from Mezzanine floor of the hotel and griped its first floor. The fire was caused because of short circuit, Said Tahir Khan spokesman of Marriott. Fire brigade reached the spot and started its effort with the help of the hotel fire fighters and extinguished the fire within half an hour.The sky over the hotel was covered with thick smoke. Owing to thick smoke 12 people went unconscious that were shifted nearby hospitals of capital. Spokesman of Marriott told TheNation that all affectees of fire were recovered and they joined their duties after treatment. To a query, he said that extent of damage was not significant. "Fire erupted in left wing of hotel which was not in operation due to renovation work and its all rooms were empty," he added. It is relevant to note here that Marriott was re-opened on Dec 28 last year after its destruction by Suicide attack on Sep 20,2008 where 54 people were killed including some foreigners.
