LAHORE - Inspector General of Punjab Police Khalid Farooq has said that honest and dutiful police officers will be encouraged. According to a police handout, he was presiding over a high level meeting of officers at central police office on Thursday. Additional IG Israr Ahmed, Additional IG Investigation Salahuddin Niazi, Additional IG CID Malik Muhammad Iqbal, Additional IG Patrolling Zahid Mehmood, Additional IG R&D Arshad Saeed, Additional IG Punjab Constabulary Talat Mehmood, DIG Operations Rafiq Hassan, DIG Headquarters Rai Altaf Hussain and other senior police officers attended the meeting. He said that strict action would be taken against miscreants and that a comprehensive strategy would be adopted to control crime. He said that the police department would be based on meritocracy. He advised the police officers to concentrate on professionalism and play their due role in ensuring rule of law in the province. He said that departmental action would be taken against corrupt police officers while honest officers would be encouraged. The IGP directed the police officers to cooperate with the public in solving their problems, besides being respectful to them.
