LAHORE - Senior most deposed judge of the Supreme Court (SC) Khalilur Rahman Ramday has said the present is a testing time for the nation as the country was under serious threat mainly due to absence of independent judiciary and rule of law. Addressing as chief guest to the jam-packed General House of the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) here Thursday Justice Ramday said for the sake of giving respect to the nation and the country at the international level, time demands of us all sacrifices as such it was not the hour to sit within four walls but to come out to protect the country. The ongoing struggle for free judiciary, he said, wants sacrifices as it has happened to every individual which now has a strong judicial system inevitable for the formation of a respectable and progressive nation. He said judiciary is an institution to protect rights of the poor against usurpation by the rulers and the powerful. He said courts are not meant to put in the judges, but to safeguard rights of the people. "Availability of inequitable justice is one which has been guaranteed by the Constitution." Justice Ramday said Allah Almighty does put His creatures into tests and the best help provided divinely to the human being to quality that, is following in the footsteps of the Holy Prophet (SAW), who himself practically showed the faithful that way. He said difficulties indeed are in the way to the objective, but we all have to remain steadfast and united, for it is what we have been taught by the Holy Prophet (SAW) as means to success.
