LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif presided over 8th meeting of Punjab Mass Transit Authority, yesterday, which decided to ply new buses on the feeder routes of Lahore and Pakistan (Rawalpindi-Islamabad) Metro Bus Projects.

Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said that the new buses will also be plied on the feeder routes of Multan Metro Bus Project after its completion. He said due to these buses, the citizens will be facilitated in reaching and leaving Metro Bus Stations. He said that auto fare system will be introduced on the buses to be plied on feeder routes.

Shahbaz Sharif said that modern Metro Bus System resulted in best and economical transport facilities to the masses. He said that Metro Bus Projects brought a revolution in transport system. He said that after the splendid success of Lahore and Pakistan Metro Bus Projects, work is also in progress speedily on Metro Bus Project in Multan.

The chief minister said that Orange Line Metro Train is a glorious project of Punjab government and its completion will result in availability of respectable, speedy and comfortable transport facilities to the common man. He said that Orange Line Metro Train Project will be a masterpiece of transparency, standard and architecture.

He said that Punjab government has set splendid examples of saving of billions of rupees of the nation in these projects. He said that provision of the modern, safe and economical transport facilities to the citizens is the agenda of the government and by safeguarding national interest, it has introduced the culture of saving of billions of rupees in the projects.

The meeting also gave approval of important matters relating to Orange Line Train and Metro Bus System. MD Punjab Mass Transit Authority gave a briefing on these projects. Chairman Lahore Transport Company Mehr Ishtiaq Ahmad, Member National Assembly Malik Ibrar Ahmed, Members Provincial Assembly Ramzan Siddique Bhatti, Sh Allauddin, Kh Imran Nazir, Kh Ahmad Hasaan, former MNA Hanif Abbasi, Vice Chairman PHA Iftikhar Ahmad, MD Punjab Mass Transit Authority Sibtain Fazl-e-Haleem, Secretary Transport, Commissioner Lahore Division and concerned authorities attended the meeting.

NISAR MEETS SHAHBAZ: Federal Interior Minister Ch Nisar Ali Khan met Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, yesterdayt. Matters regarding steps against terrorism under National Action Plan beside overall situation of the country were discussed in the meeting.

Security situation of the country and final phase of local bodies’ election also came under discussion on the occasion. Interior Minister on behalf of federal government assured full cooperation to Punjab with regard to existing security situation.

Shahbaz Sharif and Federal Interior Minister Ch Nisar Ali Khan reiterated the determination to root out terrorism, extremism and sectarianism and also expressed satisfaction over the steps taken in the province under National Action Plan.

Shahbaz Sharif thanked Interior Minister for the provision of modern vehicles, necessary equipment and cooperation by the Interior Ministry. He further said that people of Punjab have expressed full confidence in the leadership of Pakistan Muslim League-N in local bodies’ elections.

Punjab investing in youth empowerment: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that provincial government has started a number of programmes for the empowerment of the youth, which are yielding positive results for the progress of the youth, their empowerment and provision of job opportunities.

He was addressing a meeting at Civil Secretariat through video link today, in which, the implementation of programs for empowering youth was reviewed.

He said that Punjab government has also decided to launch E-Job Training Program, which will play an important role in the provision of respectable job opportunities to the youth. He said that ‘E-Job Training Program’ will play an important role in providing honourable jobs to the youth.

The chief minister said that youths can ensure bright future of Pakistan and provision of resources for empowering them is a useful investment in the future of the country. He said that all out resources would be provided for this purpose.

He said that imparting training for provision of digital jobs is need of the hour. He said that youth will be further empowered by imparting training in information technology to them under E-Job Training Programme.

Shahbaz Sharif directed steering committee to evolve a program and finalized recommendations in this regard at the earliest. He said that sixty percent population of the country comprises youth and they are our national asset. He said that the destiny of the country and the nation can be changed by empowering the youth. He said that the implementation of Skills Development Program is continuing successfully for providing jobs to the youth and enabling them to stand on their own feet.

The chief minister said that training in various skills has been provided to thousands of youth under this program so far. He said that the pace of development of the country can be accelerated through promotion of information technology.

He said that the Punjab government had taken effective steps for promotion of information technology and E-Job Training Program is a part of it, under which, youth will be equipped with modern technology.

Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board Dr Umar Saif gave a briefing about the basic features of E-Job Training Program. Provincial Ministers Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, Ch Shafiq, Ayesha Ghous Pasha, Additional Chief Secretary, concerned secretaries, Chairman PVTC and concerned officials attended the meeting from Civil Secretariat through video link.
