Pakistan has strongly condemned the unprovoked firing by Indian soldiers along the LoC near Rawlakot on Saturday morning which resulted in the killing of a Pakistani soldier and serious injury to another.

Foreign Office spokesman in a statement in Islamabad on Saturday said it is unfortunate that such an incident should have taken place at a time when the two governments are making sincere efforts towards improving relations for resolution of all outstanding disputes.

Pakistan calls upon the Government of India to carry out a thorough investigation into this grave incident and to ensure that such occurrences do not take place.

Earlier‚ Indian troops resorted to unprovoked firing at the Line of Control in Nezapir sector.

According to the ISPR‚ a Pakistan Army soldier‚ sepoy Asim Iqbal was martyred while Naik Muhammad Khan was seriously injured.

Sepoy Asim Iqbal belonged to village Chawarian‚ district Rawalpindi.
