Rawalpindi - The city traffic police (CTP) launched grand operation against drivers and conductors of private public transport on account of charging extra fares from the passengers during Ramazan ul Mubarik. As many as 848 public transport vehicles have been issued fine tickets of worth Rs4,24,000 by CTO following the orders of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO)/SSP Shoiab Khurram Janbaz, who was receiving various public complains regarding overcharging on various routes in the city, informed spokesman here on Friday. He added that the traffic wardens also returned the passengers extra fares. charged by public transporters.

In a statement, CTO/SSP Shoaib Khurram Janbaz said that a special squad has been constituted which was taking action against those public transporters who were charging extra fares from passengers on different routes during Ramazan ul Mubarak. He advised the passengers travelling in the public transport to lodge their complaints against overcharging by the transporters on the telephone number 051-9272616 and Murree Helpline 051-9269200/CTP Helpline 1915 so that prompt action could be taken against the guilty transporters.
