LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that target of enrollment of every child in Punjab till 2018 has been fixed and hard work and determination is required for achieving this target.

He was addressing a high level meeting which reviewed the pace of progress on Parho Punjab – Barho Punjab programme. The meeting also granted approval to giving additional allowance to Assistant Education Officers on the basis of their efficiency for the promotion of quality education in schools.

“Target has also been fixed for the provision of quality education to students under Parho Punjab – Barho Punjab programme. 28 lakh children will be imparted education during the next three years under Punjab Education Foundation,” the CM held.

He said that education is essential for eliminating the trend of extremism as well as removing poverty and ignorance from the country. He said that education is also necessary for the progress and development and keeping in view this fact, Punjab government has taken effective and historic steps for the promotion of education in the province.

Also, Shahbaz Sharif suspended DPO Nankana Sahib on the self-immolation of a woman whom the police served maltreatment instead of entertaining her complaint.

Following the directives of chief minister, Additional SHO Thana Sadar Nankana Sahib and ASI have been arrested and action started against both the police officials for committing criminal negligence in performance of duties.

Shahbaz Sharif said that the incident of self-immolation by a woman on not receiving justice is highly tragic. He said that provision of justice is the responsibility of the police and it will have to discharge this responsibility.
