LAHORE - The Lahore High Court Friday accepted the request of Customs Intelligence officials to submit evidence against model Ayyan Ali, accused of smuggling US $506800, and put off the hearing until June 29.

An official of Customs requested that they needed more time to submit evidence against the model. However, defense Counsel Sardar Latif Khosa opposed them submitting that the customs officials were just delaying the bail matter of his client.

On previous hearing, Justice Abdul Sami of the LHC had ordered the Investigator of Custom Intelligence to file his report before the court.

Ayyan Ali had challenged proceedings against her before a Special Customs Courts (Rawalpindi) on money smuggling charges and dismissal of bail petition.

Her counsel PPP governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa submitted that Ayyan was an honourable girl and she was implicated in the fake case as part of a conspiracy. He stated Customs authorities illegally implicated her in money smuggling case.

He contended Ayyan neither got her boarding card nor stamp of exit was put on her passport. He said in such a situation no money smuggling case was justified against her. He prayed the court to stay the proceedings against her before the customs court and grant her bail in this case.

Her petition was shifted from Rawalpindi bench of the LHC to its Principal seat. Her counsel had filed the petition at Rawalpindi bench originally that was referred to the Chief Justice for its fixing at principal seat (Lahore).

The chief justice marked the petition to Justice Mahmood Maqbool Bajwa who denied hearing the petition saying that it should be fixed before the custom applets bench. However the CJ fixed the petition before Justice Abdul Sami.

On March 14, Ayyan Ali was arrested from Benazir Bhutto International Airport Islamabad after US $506800 was recovered from her luggage which she could not justified. She was going to Dubai.
