ISLAMABAD - The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has seized a bank account of model Ayyan Ali in Karachi and confiscated Rs3.5 million, which will be used for adjustment of her payable income tax.

The FBR the other day issued a notice to the model, asking her to pay her income tax along with penalty. A senior FBR official said that the account was “attached” (seized) by the Regional Tax Office, Karachi, and the tax payable on the model would be adjusted with the recovered amount.

Earlier in the day, the Lahore High Court heard bail plea of Ms Ayyan Ali , who is being held at Adiala Jail of Rawalpindi after she was arrested by Pakistan Customs on March 14, 2015 at Islamabad’s Benazir Bhutto International Airport on charges of smuggling currency amounting to $0.5 million.

A case was registered against her under relevant provisions of the Customs Act, 1969. After completing investigations into the case, Investigation & Prosecution Cell of M.C.C. Islamabad Customs has submitted complete challan within due course of time with the Special Judge Customs, Islamabad.
