Sacramento Republic FC consolidated their position on top of the table in a 3-1 away win against the Tulsa Roughnecks. Republic FC were kept quiet during the first 15 minutes of the game as Tulsa Roughnecks dominated the proceedings. In the 9th minute of the game, the hosts nearly took the lead through forward Sammy Ochoa, but Republic FC goalkeeper did well to make the save. The visitors took the lead in the 20th minute with David Estrada shooting from three yards out. Republic FC continued to press the game into the opposition half while searching for their second goal.

The second goal for Republic FC came in the 37th minute. Octavio Guzman made his second assist of the night, sending out a crucial through-ball to Rodrigo Lopez who tucked the ball into the left corner with ease.

The second half began with the Roughnecks keen on scoring goals. In the 48th minute, Steven Miller headed the ball over the bar nearly scoring from close range. Roughnecks finally found the goal that they were looking for as newly signed Tulsa native, Cristian Mata, scored from a lofted pass from Sammy Ochoa. Only three minutes later, Danny Barrera scored to put Republic FC in a comfortable two-goal lead.

Pakistan veteran Kaleemullah came on as a second-half substitute and created an instant impact. Playing only his second match in the United Soccer League, Kaleem was welcomed by the crowd with cheers and great anticipation. Kaleem impressed with his energy and pace. He showed his defensive abilities as well by winning crucial headers and making clearances.

Kaleem almost increased the lead to three goals, in stoppage time. Kaleem took the ball through the heart of the Rougnecks defence before firing an open shot towards goal, but a deflection denied him his first professional goal for Republic FC.

Republic FC will be travelling to Austin, Texas to take on the Austin Aztex in their next match on Saturday, June 27.
