Rawalpindi - The Provincial Home Department requested Lahore High Court to hold judicial inquiry against SP Saddar Circle Dr Sardar Ghias Gul and other cops for detaining illegaly and torturing physically a citizen, reliable sources confided to The Nation here on Friday.

According to sources, a citizen namely Bilal Yamin Satti son of Col (Retd) Muhammad Yamin, resident of House Number 30, Shaheed Colony, Lalkurti filed a written application with Provincial Home Department and stated that SP Saddar Circle Dr Sardar Ghias Gul along with other police officers detained him illegally and subjected him to sever torture.

He demanded formation of a judicial commission against the SP and his men to probe the matter in order to ascertain the real facts. Sources added that the Provincial Home Department wrote a letter to the Registrar LHC, Lahore and requested for judicial inquiry against SP Saddar Dr Ghias Gul and other officials.

The letter, copy of which also available with The Nation, reads as “I am directed to refer to the subject noted above and to enclose herewith a copy of an application Bilal Yamin Satti wherein on account of illegal detention and physical torture by police, request for judicial inquiry against SP Saddar Dr Sardar Ghias Gul and other police officials. I am further directed to request you to kindly nominate a judicial officer as One Man Tribunal to conduct a judicial inquiry under Punjab Tribunals Enquiry Ordinance, 1969, in order to ascertain the real facts of the incident.”

The copies of letter were also dispatched to IGP Punjab Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera, Additional Secretary (Implementations) Chief Minister’s Office Raja Jahangir Anwar and PA to Special Secretary (Home) for further action, sources informed.
