Notorious outlaw, wanted by the police in more than 34 cases of heinous crime, was killed by his own accomplices during a shootout here the other night.

According Kasur DPO Rai Babur Saeed, notorious outlaw Muhammad Rafiq alias Rafi wanted in 34 cases of heinous crime was gunned down in a shootout with police in the remit of Pattoki Police on Gagah Road.

The DPO said that Pattoki DSP Ali Akhtar had been tasked with patrolling Multan Road during night to capture the gang of dacoits involved in looting buses. Under the directives, a team of the Pattoki Police was patrolling the road when they heard to the gunshots from nearby and rushed to the spot. There the police spotted dacoits were looting passengers of buses coming from Lahore to Multan. As soon as they sighted the police, the outlaws opened fire on the police and fled towards nearby crop fields. When the crossfire stopped, they police searched the field and found a dead body. The police also recovered a pistol, bullets and cash from the dead dacoit. Later, the deceased dacoit was identified as notorious Muhammad Rafiq alias Rafi a resident of Bakr ky Khuddian, district Kasur. The DPO claimed that the outlaw was wanted by the police in various cases including robbery, dacoities, snatching, murder and attempt to murder.
