ISLAMABAD Former federal minister for religious affairs, Hamid Saeed Kazmi was handed over by Judicial Magistrate-cum-Civil Judge Liaquat Ali Kharal to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Saturday on four-day physical remand. Court while extending physical remand asked FIA to submit complete investigation details into Haj scam regarding involvement of Kazmi on the next hearing. FIA Assistant Director (Legal) Khalid Naeem Butt appeared before the court and pleaded that Agency needed more time to verify the signatures and handwriting of Kazmi in connection with some letter used in Haj scam. He requested the court that FIA required time to investigate the matter and whereabouts of Ahmad Faiz, main culprit in Haj scam. Earlier, Kazmi was produced before court in Islamabad amid tight security. Former president of Islamabad Bar Association Syed Wajid Ali Gillani and Sardar Nasir appeared before the court as counsels of the former religious minister. The counsels of Kazmi argued that FIA was unsuccessful in producing any evidence or record even after ten days. They informed the court that FIA was well aware of the whereabouts of Ahmed Faiz and his role in Haj scam and having no connection with their client. Therefore, as their client was innocent he should be sent on judicial remand. The court after hearing the arguments extended Kazmis physical remand for another four days.
