LAHORE Speakers at a seminar have criticised the government for the release of Raymond Davis, saying the rulers have ditched the nation and sold out blood of innocent citizens. They stressed upon constituting a judicial commission to probe the matter. The seminar titled 'Solidarity of Pakistan and Our Responsibilities was organised at Jamia Naeemia on Saturday in connection with the death anniversary of Mufti Muhammad Hussain Naeemi. Chairman Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman presided over the seminar which was addressed by leaders from political and religious parties. Addressing the participants, Mufti Muneeb said injustice and lawlessness was everywhere and there was no writ of the government. Referring to the Raymond Davis episode, he said it was a pity that no one was aware about the movement of heirs of those killed by the US spy. I have no objection over the constitution of a judicial commission. If retired judges probe such incidents then why we struggled for an independent judiciary. What will be the time that the Supreme Court take suo moto notice of the incident, he said. He stressed upon the need of apprehending hundreds of Raymond Davises roaming across the country. PML-N leader Capt (r) Muhammad Safdar said the Punjab government had no role in the release and departure of Raymond Davis. I hand over my resignation from the National Assembly to Jamia Naeemia administration. If judicial commission finds any involvement of the Punjab government, my resignation should be given to Ch Nisar Ali Khan, he said. President Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan Sahibzada Abu Al-Khair Muhammad Zubair said the rulers had betrayed the nation by releasing Raymond Davis. He urged the people to come out and show exit door to the rulers. He said terrorism and lawlessness was increasing as the rulers were patronising the extremists. He said killers of Dr Sarfraz Naeemi had not been arrested even after passage of two years which was a proof of government failure. JUP Secretary General Qari Zawar Bahadar said the release of Raymond Davis was an insult of the entire nation. If killer of innocent people is released, why the government is not freeing Mumtaz Qadri who killed a blasphemer, he said, adding his party would launch a movement for the release of Mumtaz Qadri. PML-N leader MNA Kh Saad Rafiq said his party demanded constitution of a judicial commission to probe the incident of release of Raymond Davis in one and half an hour. He said desecration of the Holy Quran at a Florida Church was a question mark over the country claiming her champion of human rights. He said attack on Libya was aimed at capturing oil resources. Rulers in the Muslim countries had given opportunity to the US to attack and capture resources, he said. Chairman Standing Committee on Railways MNA Sardar Ayaz Sadiq claimed the US was not happy with the PML-N Quaid for his refusal to cooperate for the release of Raymond Davis. He said protest against drone attacks was not enough and there was need to down the spy planes. Columnist Irshad Ahmed Arif said the West was doing blasphemy and desecration of the Holy Quran to infuriate the Muslims so that they could not think about progress.
