ISLAMABAD The decision for holding a meeting with Minister for Law Dr Babar Awan was reportedly a one-man decision in the PML-Q as the party chief Ch Shujaat Hussain seems nowhere in the whole episode beside the party members were not taken on board. Sources in the party told TheNation that the decision to meet Babar Awan was only of Ch Pervaiz Elahi while party chief Ch Shujaat Hussain and other senior leaders of the party had concerns on the meeting. It was only Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi who took decision to meet the Federal Minister while no parliamentarian of the party was taken on the board before the whole exercise, sources said. They said that the party members were yet in a state of shock on the decision taken earlier to sit in an alliance under Pir Pagara as they were not even contacted before joining All Pakistan Muttahida Muslim League (APMML) and once again the party leadership has neglected its parliamentarians. Meanwhile, some other parliamentarians when asked said on the condition of the anonymity that the party leadership should have taken on board all of them before any such meeting with the law minister. They expressed concerns on one-man decisions in the party. We hope that the party high command would soon call the meeting of Central Executive Committee (CEC) to brief us about the meeting and about the decision to go for alliance with APMML, they added. On the other hand, ex Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has stated that the meeting was not properly scheduled and Minister for Law called him in morning and sad that he wanted to meet him. On this, I invited him. Our parliamentarians and other party members are our companions. They have the right to know and we will brief them about this meeting, he added. It is worth mentioning here that the leadership of both the parties had been meeting in 2009 when emergency was announced in Punjab, however, the efforts at that time remained fruitless to sweep PML-N from the Government of Punjab.
