LAHORE - The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Punjab claimed to have arrested Sheikh Kamran Mehdi, Chief Executive M/S Mehdi Securities for misappropriation of Rs 30 million by cheating the public at large. The accused will be produced before an accountability court for physical remand on Wednesday (today) for further interrogation. An investigation was authorised by the NAB Punjab against the accused on various complaints filed by affectees of the stated company. It was alleged that the accused lured the public for investment on exaggerated profits and disappeared from the scene. Investigation revealed that the accused succeeded in collecting Rs 81 million from 170 investors. The Lahore Stock Exchange cancelled membership of the company and settled claims worth Rs 51 million out of security among the affectees in collaboration with the NAB Punjab while a liability of Rs 30 million is pending against the accused.
