LAHORE - There will be a single entrance test from the next year for both FSc and non-FSc candidates for admission to medical and dental institutions of the Punjab. The University of Health Sciences (UHS) spokesman said that format, syllabus and model papers of the entrance test 2011 had been released on the varsity website. In the new syllabus prepared by a task force of teachers of FSc and non-FSc schemes of education, and finalised by the admission board for public sector medical and dental institutions, more emphasis had been put on component of biomedical sciences, he briefed. He further said that aptitude testing was also being introduced from the next year. The questions in this section shall be based on quantitative and analytical reasoning and general ethics, morality and human behaviour. The purpose of this section was to test candidates attitude and values as a pre-requisite for entry into medical profession, he maintained. The test shall consist of 220 multiple choice questions (MCQs), each question carrying five marks. There shall be five sections of the question paper ie Physics (44 MCQs), Chemistry (44 MCQs), English (22 MCQs), Biology (88 MCQs) and Aptitude (22 MCQs). Negative marking shall continue as to restrain students from unintelligent guesswork in the test. One mark shall be deducted from the total score on each wrong answer. Total time allowed for the test would be 150 minutes, spokesman concluded.
