Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Syed Tahir Shahbaz, Saturday said that the authority will beautify the federal capital further with new varieties of seasonal flowers.

He said this while addressing the prize distribution ceremony of the Spring Flowers Show 2013 organised by CDA in collaboration with Islamabad Horticultural Society (IHS). The chairman CDA said that the authority is making all-out efforts to enhance beauty of the capital further by developing the landscapes, adding that all kinds of encroachments would be eradicated to restore the beauty of the city. He said that increased participation of the private sector in the floral exhibition reflects the efforts of the people from different walks of life who really care for the environment.

"We have chalked out a comprehensive programme under the 'Clean and Green Islamabad' campaign, which is being implemented in letter and spirit," said Tahir.

He said that CDA has also involved schoolchildren, trade unions, civil society and citizens in the campaign to resolve common issues faced by the public. He said that apart from beautification, flowers are great source of recreation and entertainment for the residents and such exhibitions encourage people for plantation of flowers at their homes.

The chairman directed the CDA Environment Wing to increase the number of saplings to be planted during spring and monsoon tree plantation campaigns this year.
