ISLAMABAD - About 244 teachers and lecturers have been denied regularisation due to ill will and half-hearted efforts of the Capital Administration Development Division (CADD) officials while the contractual and daily-wage employees of other ministries and departments were regularised by the government. The Establishment Division has recently regularised the employees of all the departments and ministries working on daily wages and contract basis. The departments and ministries were asked to send the data and verified lists of their employees. The officials of the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) also with the help of the teachers working in different schools and colleges had prepared the lists of the contractual and daily-wage teachers to send it to the subcommittee of the Cabinet Division headed by Federal Minister Syed Khurshid Shah that was constituted for the regularisation of the contractual and daily-wage employees of all the ministries and departments. Sources told TheNation that CADD had sent three lists of over 500 daily-wage, contractual lecturers and junior lady teachers to the subcommittee of cabinet after verification by the FDE and approved by the CADD Secretary, Junaid Iqbal. But CADD Joint Secretary Rafiq Tahir sent another unverified list of teachers and lecturers to the subcommittee that messed up the whole process. Thus, the Establishment Division approved the new list of 284 lecturers and teachers while 244 lecturers and junior lady teachers whose names were not included in the new list were denied regularisation. The teachers have been objecting that approved list that have the names of those who had left the jobs or not genuine candidates while the teachers and lectures who were struggling for their rights for a long time, their names are missing in the lists that has caused resentment and unrest among the teachers. It has been learnt that the lecturers and junior lady teachers met with the CADD Secretary on Saturday to record their protest. They demanded to stop the entire process until the names of all the employees are included in the lists for regularisation. CADD Joint Secretary and Spokesperson Rafiq Tahir, when contacted, said nothing has been finalised yet and things are under way. He said contractual doctors and employees of special education department were regularised by the Establishment Division in the start of this month but regularisation of lecturers and teachers has not completed yet and those whose names have not been included would be included within few days or after Eid.
