ISLAMABAD (APP) - Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has castigated the Government of India and the Kashmir administration in Occupied Kashmir over 4200 kanals land acquisition for the Kishanganga power project in Gurez, calling it a conspiracy by New Delhi to make backdoor entry into disputed Jammu Kashmir and deprive the Kashmiris of their land and water resources. According to KMS, the APHC Chairman, addressing a gathering in Srinagar said that New Delhi and its National Hydel Power Corporation (NHPC) were plundering the natural resources of Jammu and Kashmir. In the name of 10 and 12 per cent royalty, our water resources are being plundered in broad daylight. You must have heard that the NHPC is acquiring 4,200 kanals of land in Gurez area of Bandipora for its Kishanganga Power Project and the puppet administration has agreed to it. The move would displace at least 200 families. We warn the Government of India that Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory and Kashmir belongs to the Kashmiris, who would decide its ultimate fate. So this (land acquisition) is simply New Delhi's attempt to make backdoor entry into Kashmir, he said. He maintained that the Kashmiri people would oppose such projects by tooth and nail, especially the projects of the Government of India, which were aimed at making the Kashmiris more and more dependent. It is not that you will make entry via backdoor and we will maintain silence, he added. The Mirwaiz said, it is an irony that while NHPC is making millions of rupees by selling power generated from Kashmirs water resources, the territory and its people are forced into perpetual financial and economic deprivation. NHPC is the replica of the modern day East India Company which is out to loot our resources,he said and appealed the people to understand the conspiracy. The APHC Chairman said that Kashmir continued to remain a disputed territory for the past 63 years. He pointed out that India had, at every level and forum, through economic packages and job offers, tried to ensure that Kashmiris should forget their movement but failed in its designs. We cant forget repression on ground, the heart-rending incidents of assault on the honour and dignity of our sisters and mothers, the sacrifices of martyrs and cant forget coffins of our youngsters, who are there in unmarked graves. Such things are simply unforgettable, he said adding that the ongoing movement would be taken to its logical end against all odds. Stating that the Hurriyet leadership was with the people in the liberation struggle, the Mirwaiz said, It is condemnable that the pro-freedom leaders are often placed under house arrest and not allowed to even go for prayers. This repression must go. But I assure people that the leadership is with them and will talk about Jammu and Kashmir dispute till its resolution. And nobody is going to stop us from doing so.
