OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE Dacoits gunned down another man on offering resistance during road robbery here in the Punjab Capital on Saturday, police sources said. Police said that the man, later identified as Aslam Shafique, was coming back home after serving Sehri food to his brother who was sitting at Aitkaaf at a nearby Masjid when two motorcyclists intercepted him near to his house (Rajput Park, Street No 2, ) in the Shadbagh police area. They took out guns, held him hostage and demanded cash and valuables. As the father of two offered resistance and tried to capture one of the bandits, the other opened fire on him. The man sustained bullet injuries and fell on the ground while the robbers sped away from the crime scene after snatching cash and valuables from the injured. The man was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounce him dead. shot dead over land: A 50-year-old man was shot dead over land dispute by two persons near Shamma Chowk in Inchhra police precincts on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Ali Ahmad, a resident of Nishtar Colony. Ali was going on foot when two accused namely Nawaz and Shahbaz riding a bike approached him near Shamma Chowk. On seeing him, they opened indiscriminate fires on Ali. Resultantly, minimum four bullets pierced into various parts of his body. He sustained multiple injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead. Woman dies: A 45-year-old woman died under mysterious circumstances in North Cantonment police area on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Bashiran Bibi, a resident of Muhammadi Market. Police investigators said that she died owing to cardiac arrest. The body was handed over to the bereaved family after police completed the necessary medico-legal formalities.
