OUR STAFF REPORTER PESHAWAR The city police foiled a major smuggling bid, as it arrested two smugglers and recovered 200-kg hashish from their possession in Badhabera area here on Saturday. The police said that following a tip off received to Chief Capital City Police Imtiaz Iltaf regarding smuggling from Darra Adam Khail area, SSP, Operation, Ijaz Khan and DSP, Sadr Circle, Sajjad Khan constituted a team of police personnel. They said the police blocked the frontier road and flagged down a suspected vehicle bearing registration number TLG-736. They said after searching its various hidden cavities, they recovered 200-kg hashish from the vehicle. Police also arrested two accused identified as Mohammad Akram and Mohammad Tahir. The police registered FIR and started investigation. It is noted here that smugglers mostly used this road for smuggling heroine, weapons and hashish from Darra Adam Khail area, a semi-tribal area of Peshawar, to various parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
