LAHORE Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said terrorism will have to be rooted out in the interest of survival of the country, and anti-nation forces are bent upon destroying peace and law and order and there is a need for unity to foil their nefarious designs. Nothing can be more important than maintenance of peace in the existing circumstances. Besides human resource, modern technology is also essential for countering the menace of terrorism, and therefore, short, medium and long term strategies should be evolved and presented to him within next ten days, he directed, while presiding over a high level meeting to review various aspects of the tragic incident of bomb blast at the Urdu Bazar Chowk and the pace of investigation here on Thursday. Senior Advisor Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, MPA Col (r) Shuja Khanzada, Advisor Jehanzeb Burki, Inspector General Police, Home Secretary, Commissioner, District Coordination Officer, Capital City Police Officer Lahore and senior officers concerned were present. While appreciating courage and efficiency of police for foiling the designs of terrorists, he said police officials sacrificed their lives to save people from a big disaster. He directed for reviewing all measures and decisions taken during the last two and a half years for maintenance of peace. An effective strategy should be evolved for further improving security arrangements and their effective implementation should be ensured. Paucity of resources will not be allowed to become a hurdle in the maintenance of law and order and protection of life and property of the people, he added. Earlier, Inspector General Police and Capital City Police Officer briefed the meeting of various aspects and pace of investigation into the bomb blast at Urdu Bazar Chowk.
