KARACHI - District and Sessions Judge (South) Faheem Siddiqui on Monday transferred the case of torture on President Asif Ali Zardari to Additional District and Sessions Court (South) Zameer Ahmed Tunio, on the application of Najaf Mirza, the accused in the case. The court heard the arguments of Barrister Zamir Hussain Ghumro, the counsel of the accused/applicant, in which he said that the main case as well as the proceedings over the bail plea conformation should be proceeded in another court, while expressing his dissatisfaction over the attitude of the trial court. The counsel further argued that the trial court has been delaying the bail plea confirmation for the last seven months by not hearing the application. After hearing his arguments, the court ordered to shift the case from the District and Sessions Court (South) Nazar Ali Khawaja to Additional District and Sessions Court Zameer Ahmed Tunio. It is worth mentioning here that the accused along with other accused, former IG Sindh Police Rana Maqbool, former Chairman NAB Saifur Rehman, his brother Mujeeb-ur-Rehman and Amin Qureshi, were charged for their involvement in a bid to murder the PPP co-chairperson and present President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari in 1999 in police custody.
