LAHORE – Trade union representatives on Friday demanded of the federal and provincial government to amend the social security and old-age benefit schemes, as well as Workers Welfare Fund laws.

They said the amendment would grant industrial and commercial workers access to medical and educational scholarships for their children. In a resolution, they said the social security institution should provide quality medicines to the secured workers and allocate some percentage of their resources for prevention of accident and occupational diseases at workplace. The meeting of the union leaders was held under the auspices of the Pakistan Workers’ Federation at Bakhtiar Labour Hall.         –Reporter
