ISLAMABAD - Lack of parking facilities in commercial areas of the federal capital are creating problems for the commuters and this phenomena is worsening with every passing day.

According to details, main commercial centres in the city including Aabpara, Melody Market and Blue Area that are hubs of business activities are facing acute shortage of parking place. These areas remained packed with vehicles during offices timings and till late night.

This situation is further worsening as Eid-ul-Fitr is approaching and number of people who go for shopping is increasing with every passing day. People who come for shopping have to wait for hours to park their vehicles at appropriate place.

Irfan Qazi, owners of a bookstore in Blue Area, said that due to poor parking facilities and lack of sufficient space he parks his vehicles away from his shop. He said that due to rush of vehicles it takes five to ten minutes to find parking space near the shop. Qazi said that city administrators should solve the parking problems of the capital on immediate basis. Marium Atif informed that sufficient parking space is not available in the commercial centres including Aabpara market and Super Market. She said that these places are ideal places for shopping but parking facilities are poor in these areas. After parking vehicle one remains worry regarding the security issues of the vehicle, Marium added. Raja Asad a traffic police official told that people are not well educated that how they should park their vehicles in the busiest shopping centres.

He said that if vehicles should be parked properly then less space would be used leaving more parking area for others.
